<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet ink printing method for achieving high gloss and DOI with pigmented inkjet inks. <P>SOLUTION: A method for inkjet printing onto a substrate includes steps of: (a) providing an inkjet printer that includes a print head device that allows substantially all the ink to be jetted for a given area of the substrate to be laid down in one pass, and that is responsive to digital data signals; (b) loading the printer with a substrate to be printed; (c) loading the printer with a pigmented inkjet ink; and (d) printing onto the substrate using the pigmented inkjet ink in response to the digital data signals; wherein the linear scan speed is at least 6 cm/sec, the printing is accomplished at a resolution of at least 300 dpi, and the print head device prints a drop size that is equal to or less than about 20 pL. The method is characterized in that the substrate is an absorbent glossy media in which the 60 degree gloss is at least about 30 gloss units, the printing onto the substrate is accomplished with pigmented inkjet ink in one pass, and the print head operates by scanning across the media. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
