<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device which can suppress generation of noise even if high output of a speaker is attained. <P>SOLUTION: A projector comprises: a light modulation unit 15 for modulating light from a lamp unit 14; a projection optical unit 17 for projecting the modulated light onto a surface to be projected; a speaker unit 19 for outputting sound; and a body cabinet 1 to which these are provided. The speaker unit 19 comprises a speaker box 400 which houses a speaker 300. The speaker box 400 comprises: a front panel 410; an inner box 430 for covering the speaker 300 mounted to the front panel 410 from the rear; and an outer box 440 which covers around the inner box 430 and is mounted to the body cabinet 1.
