<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem of a conventional ink cartridge that since the pressure of air in the ink cartridge which is thermally expanded due to temperature change is transmitted directly to an atmosphere-opening or an ink discharge port, ink is moved to cause ink leakage. <P>SOLUTION: Between an atmosphere-opening and an ink discharge port, an atmosphere communication channel having a communication port which communicates, at one end, with an atmosphere release port and communicates, at the other end, with an ink storage chamber is provided. A gas-liquid separation chamber having a meniscus formation part forming a meniscus, and an opening communicating with the atmosphere release port are provided in the way of the atmosphere communication channel. In the gas-liquid separation chamber, the portion below the meniscus formation part forms an ink reservoir and the portion above the meniscus formation part forms a space. Since the meniscus formation part can release pressure to the space by moving an amount of ink corresponding to pressure rise in the ink storage chamber to the ink reservoir while following up the pressure rise, ink leakage from an ink discharge port resulting from temperature change can be prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
