<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately recognize a subject to be tracked. <P>SOLUTION: A subject box setting processing unit 24 operates a subject detector for detecting a subject imaged in an image to set a subject frame enclosing a predetermined range of the subject detected from the image. Then, a tracked subject recognition unit 25 sets a touch allowable frame of a range larger than the subject frame according to the situation of the image or an imaging mode, and when a designated position on the image touched by a user is detected by a touch detection unit 23, recognizes a subject to be tracked based on the touch allowable frame and the designated position.
