<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and inexpensive braking device for a roller which solves problems of a hydraulic disc brake and a hydraulic hose by avoiding use of the hydraulic disc brake. <P>SOLUTION: When regulating the rotation of the cradle roller 10 of a coil car 3 which supports a coil 1 for example, the outer circumferential surface of a cylindrical body 13 which rotates together with the cradle roller 10 is wound with a rubber belt 15. One end of the rubber belt 15 is fixed to a brake base 14, and a tension adjusting mechanism 16 mounted on the brake base 14 is connected to the other end of the rubber belt 15 for adjusting the tension of the rubber belt 15.
