Provided are a sugar content-increasing agent for sugarcane which has an excellent effect of increasing sugar and can sufficiently promote the growth and ripening, and a method for promoting the growth and ripening of sugarcane using the same. The sugar content-increasing agent for sugarcane is characterized by comprising, as the active ingredient, 3-[5-(difluoromethoxy)-1-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazol-4-ylmethylsulfonyl]-4,5-dihydro-5,5-dimethyl-1,2-oxazole represented by formula (I).
