The structure (1) incorporates an electronic component (8), e.g. an RFID (radio frequency identification) device, which is fitted into a window (4) in an intermediate layer made at least partly from fibres and having an adhesive coating (6). The adhesive has sufficient strength and cohesion to prevent any attempt to separate the intermediate layer from the adjacent supplementary, masking or supporting layer without damaging it. The intermediate layer can be opaque or light reflecting, e.g. made from a coloured core with a white surface coating, metallised or laminated with a metal film. The structure can contain an additional security component such as a hologram, iridescent or liquid crystals, a magnetic coating or fibres, or tracers detectable by magnetic resonance or fluorescence. In addition, the window can be shaped to simulate an image, logo or inscription. |
