378,127. Lifeboats ; boat - lowering gear.STROCCHI, N. and MINARDI, F., Ravenna, Italy. May 26, 1931, No. 15400. [Classes 113 (ii) and 115.] In an enclosed lifeboat, the lowering is effected and controlled from the interior. The falls 20 pass from a centrally-disposed winch in the boat, over fair leads 22, through openings 3 in the deck, up to the davits and are finally secured to rings 8 on the deck. When the lowering operation has been completed, the rings 8 are cast off by screwing in plugs the heads of which extend into the boat. The openings 3 are closed in a watertight manner by plugs 4 secured in position by levers 48 taking over hooks 47. The lifeboat itself is provided with exterior rollers to facilitate lowering operations, ventilators 6, and an electric motor 24 for driving the propeller. |
