PORTABLE IMAGE RECEPTION DEVICE FURNISHED WITH DIGITAL CAMERA - TECHNIQUE FOR THE MEASUREMENT OF THE COLOUR OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE IN FIELDS

Novelty: portable image reception device furnished with digital camera - method for the determination of the colour parameters of agricultural produce, in fields. Constitution: the foldable photographic cage -Professional Desktop Viewer (PDV GLE)- comprising four fluorescent lamps D65 of continuous wavelength, the digital camera (Konica Minolta Dimage Z6) (2) set at a predefined height over the geometric centre of the floor of the photographic cage, adapted to a stand and having regulations defining the shutter speed (1/100 sec), the lens luminosity (f.5), the high quality image (72dpi), the zero focusing and the deactivated flash. The depiction of colour is initially realised at the sRGB system while the base background (3) (100gr paper 500cm x 30cm in dimensions) is selected with colour parameters different of the samples. Operation method: the method applied for the measurement of the colour parameters L*,a*,b*,C* of agricultural produce comprises four phases: i) the opening of the photographic cage 1 and connection thereof with UPS (6); ii) actuation of the photographic cage; iii) placement of the selected agricultural produce onto a preselected background colour; iv) reception of digital images by a pre-regulated camera (2); v) transmission of images (4) to a portable computer (5) for the measurement of the chromatometric parameters of the samples. The same device and method are capable of determining the colour parameters L*,a*,b*,C* of whatever agricultural product of allowed size.
