PURPOSE: Compound alkaline earth metal oxide is provided to increase secondary electron emitting coefficient and be used as a film to protect a dielectric layer of an AC-type PDP since hydroscopicity is low. CONSTITUTION: Compound alkaline earth metal oxide is as follows. Magnesium oxide and other alkaline earth metal oxide are contained at a ratio of 98:2~80:20 in the mol ratio of magnesium to other alkaline earth metal. Compound alkaline earth metal oxide comprises at least one metallic oxide of 3, 4, and 5 in oxidation number by 0.0002~0.1M for 1M alkaline earth metal. The contents of magnesium oxide and other alkaline earth metal oxide are within 98:2~90:10 in the mol ratio of magnesium to other alkaline earth metal.
