Provided are a window object inertial movement method and device for use in enabling an inertial movement effect for a window object on the basis of linear speed and angular speed. When an input device releases a window object being dragged, the initial linear speed and the initial angular speed are obtained. The linear deceleration and angular deceleration are then used to obtain the amount of displacement and rotation corresponding to each processing cycle. The inertial movement effect of the window object is simulated after the release of a mouse button or the release of a finger from a touch screen. The method and the device enable an inertial movement effect for window objects, thus facilitating touch operations, increasing the ease of use of terminal software, and enhancing user experience.
