APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS SHAPING OF A GLASS RIBBON

In the formation of sheet material from molten glass, pairs (41) of offset shaping rollers (40) are used to produce curved shapes in a glass ribbon (34) as the ribbon is being formed. When the glass ribbon is later separated, the curved portions of the ribbon become curved edges (16) that can wrap around the edges of display products such as computer monitors or televisions that the cover sheets can be installed on. Embodiments of the present invention can be used to eliminate off line reheating and reshaping of individual glass sheets used in conventional glass shaping processes.
