[Also in Groups IV (c) and V] Regenerated cellulose yarns which are to be bonded to rubber (see Group V) are produced by adding a phenol-aldehyde condensation product having aliphatic side chains containing an ethylenically unsaturated carbon-carbon linkage to viscose and then extruding the treated viscose. In an example, dimethylol vinyl resorcinol was produced by the action of formaldehyde on vinyl resorcinol in caustic soda solution and added to viscose which was extruded as described in Specification 467,500.
