<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network game which is safe and easy to join since communication can be performed through a network with a friend with whom identification information is exchanged. <P>SOLUTION: A communication game system includes a plurality of game apparatuses which are able to wirelessly communicate with each other, for example. The game apparatus registers the identification information of an opponent obtained by short-distance wireless communication or manual input in a friend list. Thereafter, the game apparatus is connected to the Internet, and inquires a server, for instance, whether or not it is possible to communicate with the opponent in the friend list over the network. When it is determined that it is possible to communicate, the game apparatus obtains the address of the opponent to perform network communication. In the case that a still another opponent under the communication exists when connected from another game apparatus, the game apparatuses transmit their identification information to introduce the communicating opponents to each other.
