A description is given of a method for preventing the escape of environmentally harmful substances in drilling operations for the extraction of oil and gas in underwater formations, comprising the steps of producing a pipe string (4) by using large pipes (3) and a tubular cutting sleeve (7) at the bottom end of the pipe string (4), lowering the pipe string (4), held by a float (1), with the cutting sleeve (7) leading the way, down to the formation on the bed (6) of the water, sinking the cutting sleeve (7) into the formation by applying a load, installing a submersible pump (8) in the pipe string (7) and reducing the internal pressure in the pipe string by continuously lowering the filling level below the water level of the water surrounding the pipe string and collecting the pumped-out water in a tank (12). |
