<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face image evaluation method capable of objectively quantifying, based on a face image, the aesthetic appearance of the face. <P>SOLUTION: Weight coefficients of multi-order base vectors are calculated by applying principal component analysis to textures of a normalized face image(subject image) and a reference image, a matching degree of global appearance impressions of the textures is evaluated based on the proximity degree of a part of the weight coefficients on a lower-order side, and a matching degree of local appearance impressions of the textures is evaluated based on the proximity degree of a part of the weight coefficients on a higher-order side.
