The appliance has a power supply line (45) in which a user-side actuatable tracer and a shifting element of a self holding circuit are provided in a parallel connection. The shifting element is bringable to an open position at the end of a rinsing process to interrupt the power supply. A mechanically actuatable switching element (44) is connected into the supply line parallel to the shifting element. The switching element is bringable to the open position or closed position by an internal control unit, and remains in the open or closed position during interruption of the power supply.
