<p>A wind turbine blade comprises first and second shells 30, 31 having respective bonding regions, eg at the peripheries, and a temperature sensor positioned between the bonding regions to enable accurate determination and control of the temperature of the critical bonding regions during blade manufacture. The temperature sensor may be used during the service life of the wind turbine blade to detect delamination of the wind turbine blade. The shells may be of resin impregnated fibre composite and may be bonded using a bonding resin 32 such as a heat curable resin or glue. The temperature sensor(s) may be embedded in the resin. The temperature sensor may be a Fibre Bragg Grating in an optical fibre or a distributed strain and temperature sensor (DSTS). The output of the temperature sensor may control the curing oven (21, fig.2).</p> |
