PURPOSE: A photonic crystal waveguide structure which has improved coupling efficiency with a strip waveguide through a boundary hole insertion process is provided to cancel a localized cavity mode, thereby minimizing a coupling loss. CONSTITUTION: One or more boundary holes(41) are inserted in a boundary surface of a photonic crystal waveguide and strip waveguide. A localized cavity mode by an incident waveguide is controlled in order to improve transmittance regardless of the position of the boundary surface of the incident waveguide and photonic crystal waveguide. A coupling loss generated due to a mismatched mode state by light propagating with different modes in a part where the strip waveguide and photonic crystal waveguide are touched each other. |
