<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of retrieval accuracy when similar image retrieval is performed with an image as a key. <P>SOLUTION: An existing web retrieval engine E is used to obtain an image from a web server GS on the basis of a retrieval result obtained by providing a keyword for the web retrieval engine. An image feature amount extracted from the image is stored and accumulated for use in similar image retrieval, so that a similar image retrieval engine is realized without a large burden associated with specific use of a crawler. Deterioration of retrieval accuracy that occurs when an irrelevant image similar only in appearance hits as a similar image candidate during a retrieval using only image feature amount is avoided by storing text feature amount in addition to image feature amount for consideration into a similar image retrieval. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
