APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING LIGHT LEVEL OF BRAKE LIGHT USING CAMERA MODULE

PURPOSE: A brake lamp control apparatus and method are provided to control the brightness of a brake lamp by determining distance with a next car using a camera module. CONSTITUTION: A camera module(10) is installed in the rear side of a vehicle. A lens unit(11) receives optical energy of the rear side of the vehicle and outputs. An image sensor(12) changes the optical energy into an electrical signal and outputs to an image. A controller(20) compartmentalizes the image into a light area and a non-light area. The controller calculates entire average brightness of the image and changes the image into a brightness signal. The controller controls the brightness of a brake lamp(30) according to brightness difference of the light area and the non-light area.
