An apparatus and a method for providing an external input setting value are provided to automatically set an external input setting value whenever an external input of a television receiver is changed to allow a user to watch TV in the optimized state. An apparatus for providing an external input setting value includes a memory(100) and a controller(300). The memory stores external input setting values of an image providing device(200) for respective external inputs. The controller extracts a setting value corresponding to a predetermined external input from the memory when the image providing device is set to the predetermined external input and determines the extracted setting value as the external input setting value of the image providing device. The apparatus further includes a user interface(400) for receiving setting values corresponding to respective external inputs from a user. |
