The invention discloses a method, server and terminal for audio and video on demand. The method includes: receiving an audio and video resource request from an on-demand terminal; determining the network which the on-demand terminal belongs to according to the audio and video resource request; determining the resource nodes with the audio and video resource within the network which the on-demand terminal belongs to; generating a resource list according to the resource nodes with the audio and video resource within the network which the on-demand terminal belongs to; sending the resource list to the on-demand terminal so that the on-demand terminal can acquire the audio and video resource according to the resource list. The invention overcomes the disadvantage of the on-demand system of the current peer-to-peer (P2P) network, and reduces the cost loss of the network system while the concurrent online fluent on-demand of multiple users is performed.
