<p>#CMT# #/CMT# The method involves detecting an environment of a vehicle, and determining driving conditions in which a fuel-saving control is provided. Prediction of regulating intervention is carried out during operation phases, and expected time curve (VE) of a state variable (V) is determined based on a travel distance of another vehicle lying ahead of the former vehicle. The operating phases are changed into a free-wheel operation phase i.e. idling operation phase.
