Specifically disclosed is a light emitting element (10) which comprises: a negative electrode (34); a positive electrode (32); a light emitting layer (50) that is held between the negative electrode (34) and the positive electrode (32); and an electron injection layer (44) that is arranged between the negative electrode (34) and the light emitting layer (50) and bonded to the negative electrode (34). The positive electrode (32) and/or the negative electrode (34) contains a conductive material that has an aspect ratio of 1.5 or more, and the electron injection layer (44) contains an organic compound that has an ionic group and/or a polar group.
