<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an experiment to be carried out without constraints by the limitation of the number of channels. <P>SOLUTION: A confocal scanning microscope 11 and a trigger generation device 13 composing a microscope system 1 are physically connected by at least one interface to input and output sync signals. When stimulation to a specimen S is instructed, the trigger generation device 13 generates a trigger signal for stimulating the specimen S. In the confocal scanning microscope 11, the generated trigger signal is given to the specimen S as a stimulation signal, a feature amount is extracted from a sync signal synchronizing with the trigger signal, and an operation of the confocal scanning microscope 11 corresponding to the extracted feature amount of the sync signal is controlled on the basis of pre-set corresponding operation information.
