PURPOSE: A tilting device of a blooming mill and a method of controlling the motor of a tilting device are provided to decrease current passing through resistor with resistance and reduce heat of a motor by stopping the motor while heat is emitted through the resistor. CONSTITUTION: A tilting device(500) of a blooming mill comprises a frame, a tilting arm(520), a motor(530), and a control unit(550). One end of the tilting arm is rotatably installed on the frame. The motor is connected to the tilting arm and drives so that one end of the tilting arm forms an arc in a section of turning a target upside down. After one point of the section of turning the target upside down, the control unit decreases in-phase current applied to the motor. The control unit is connected to the motor and comprises resistor, which emits resistance to the rotation of the motor as heat.
