The method involves moving a vertical C-arm (3) pivotally around vertical axes (13) and in a horizontal extension direction (8) that corresponds to a longitudinal direction of a projection of the vertical C-arm on a horizontal plane. The C-arm is moved and rotated to reach a new recording position by a shift in the extension direction around the axes. A detector assembly (5) of the C-arm is rotated corresponding to the rotation of the C-arm around the axes such that X-ray images i.e. panorama image, are received in a same alignment. An independent claim is also included for an X-ray device.
