<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active clamp circuit that reduces an operation period thereof. <P>SOLUTION: According to one embodiment, an active clamp circuit is provided that comprises a first switch element, a first resistor, a first diode, and a control circuit. The first diode breaks down by the overvoltage applied to both ends of the first switch element. The first resistor detects the current of the first diode.
