摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently reduce an information quantity in encoding and transmitting a viewpoint image with a small processing load while keeping the image quality, when compression-encoding the viewpoint image and corresponding depth information, in a multi-viewpoint image processing system. <P>SOLUTION: A multi-viewpoint image encoder 100 is equipped with: an actual distance calculation unit 101 which calculates an actual distance from the viewpoint of a subject to the subject on the basis of at least the depth information and photographic condition information, compares the calculated actual distance with a predetermined threshold, and outputs, on the basis of the comparison result, conversion information for converting the gradation number of the colour difference information for each pixel or each small region constituting the viewpoint image; and a viewpoint image conversion unit 102 which converts, on the basis of the outputted conversion information, the gradation number of the colour difference information for each pixel or each small region constituting the viewpoint image.
