<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a multilayer coating film excellent in smoothness, vividness, and chipping resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The method for forming a multilayer coating film in a three-coating-one-baking manner is carried out using a first colored coating material containing (a1) a hydroxy-containing polyester resin containing 1.0 to 8.0 mol/kg of straight chain alkylene groups with 4 or more carbon atoms in a molecule and having 30 to 160 mgKOH/g of hydroxyl value and 1,000 to 6,000 of number-average molecular weight and (a2) a melamine resin; a second colored coating material containing (b1) a hydroxy-containing acrylic resin having 40 to 200 mgKOH/g of hydroxyl value and 3,000 to 15,000 of weight-average molecular weight and (b2) a melamine resin. The first colored coating material and/or the second colored coating material contain(s) a flat pigment. A clear coating material (C) for the method contains (c1) a hydroxy-containing acrylic resin having 80 to 200 mgKOH/g of hydroxyl value and 3,000 to 12,000 of weight-average molecular weight and (c2) a polyisocyanate compound. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
