The invention relates to an image-decoding method, comprising the following steps: entropy-decoding a received bit stream and inverse-quantizing and inverse-transforming the residual value to restore the residual value; performing intra-prediction coding using one of a plurality of prediction modes for a prediction unit divided by an asymmetric partitioning scheme and/or a geometric partitioning scheme, so as to generate a prediction unit; and adding the residual value to the prediction unit to restore an image. According to the present invention, intra-prediction is applied to an asymmetric partitioning scheme and/or to a geometric partitioning scheme, thereby improving encoding efficiency for high-resolution images at an HD level or higher.
