<p>A method of transmitting data via on optical transmission channel is proposed. An input bit sequence is differentially encoded for generating an input information word. A systematic, linear, cyclic block code is applied to the input information word for generating a code word, which then is transmitted via a phase shift keying modulation scheme. A received code word is generated based on the received signal. A first decoded information word and a first number of corrected bits is generated, as well as a second decoded information word and a second number of corrected bits. One of the decoded information words is chosen in dependence on the numbers of corrected bits.</p> |
