A measurement system and associated method and sensor probe comprising a radiation source 10 and a detection system15. Radiation from the source is incident on a sample 25 and the detection system receives at least part of the radiation via the sample. The system is reconfigurable to vary a path length of the radiation through the sample and/or a reflectance of at least one surface upon which the radiation is incident after passing through the sample. This can be achieved via interchangeable dividers 35a-b, or a plunger arrangement (35c, Fig 2), or an arrangement of optical fibres (205, 210 Fig 5). A property of the sample may be determined based on first and second measurements using different path lengths and/or different reflective surfaces. Alternative claimed embodiments relate to a guide for moving the detection system between positions, a sensor probe comprising spaced apart and angled optical fibres and a sample holder with a movable divider for varying the dimensions of a sample chamber. |
