PURPOSE: A device and method for measuring bird nest position by using thrust are provided to improve the state of a furnace shaft coke by accurately informing a manufacturer of a bird nest forming position. CONSTITUTION: A device for measuring bird nest position by using thrust comprises next steps. A thrust is added to a measuring rod, which is inserted in to a furnace through a blower(12), in order to measure the movement distance of the measuring rod. The forming location of the bird nest is determined based on the measured movement distance and reaction of the measuring rod. The inserted length of measuring rod in the furnace is measured using one or more proximity sensors which are arranged in a row with the progressive direction of the measuring rod, in a step of measuring the movement distance of the measuring rod.
