摘要 PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for determining a modulation method in a wireless communications system are provided to improve a peak transmission rate during a transmission state of a data burst using a modulation method including a 256 QAM(Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) based on a parameter value. CONSTITUTION: A receiver obtains an allocation size and an ISizeOffset value(310). The receiver obtains an IMinimalSize value using a table and the allocation size(320). The receiver obtains an idx value with equation 1 using the IMinimalSize value and an obtained IMinimalSize value. The receiver obtains aburst size corresponding to the idx value in the table(330). The burst size is compared with the burst size for a 256 QAM(Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) which is pre-defined. The modulation method, corresponding to the obtained allocation size and ISizeOffset value, is obtained using the table(340).
