<p>Disclosed are composite particles for a display medium, which are used for an information display device and have improved charge retention ability. Specifically disclosed are particles for a display medium, which are in the form of composite particles that are composed of base particles and smaller particles adhered to the surfaces of the base particles. The particles for a display medium are characterized in that: each smaller particle has a core portion and a shell portion that comprises a first shell layer covering the core portion; the core portion is formed of a condensation product of formaldehyde and a first amino compound that essentially contains a melamine; and the first shell layer is formed of a condensation product of formaldehyde and a second amino compound that essentially contains a guanamine.</p>
