It is intended to provide a novel enzyme having excellent physicochemical properties such as a substrate specificity which makes it useful as an enzyme for clinical diagnosis or an enzyme for producing a substance and a method of producing the enzyme. Namely, a novel enzyme which catalyzes a reaction of cleaving the C-N bond in a secondary amine of diacetylpolyamine to form an amine and an aldehyde as an enzyme for clinical diagnosis or an enzyme for producing a substance while showing a novel substrate specificity of having a higher reactivity with diacetylpolyamine than with monoacetylpolyamine, and a method of producing such an enzyme. Moreover, it is intended to provide a method of producing a useful monoacetylpolyamine with the use of the above-described enzyme. |
