<p>This invention lightens a burden in development by using a generic device driver and also lightens a burden on a user by automatically performing customization suitable for a model to be installed. A client PC (101) acquires AA from an image forming apparatus (104) as its type ID. A generic device driver to be used is determined by extracting, from the type ID, a series ID determined by the interface. In addition, based on the value of a group ID representing a function group, the generic device driver is reconfigured and installed in accordance with the functions of the image forming apparatus.
