[Class 45] A tool for straining a metal band round a packing-case &c. comprises a head A with a handle B and a serrated or roughened arcuate surface a<2>, diametrically opposite the handle, a slot a parallel to the axis of the arcuate surface being provided in the head. The metal band, after being secured at one end to, and passed partway round, the packing- case, is inserted in the slot a and bent to lie along the handle of the tool, which is then rotated, the serrated surface preventing the tool from slipping on the packing case. A leather &c. loop b may be provided to enable the operator to hold the band strained by means of his foot, leaving the hands free for nailing the band to the packing-case.
