PURPOSE: A seal leakage and seal oil contamination detection system of a generator is provided to maintain purity level of cooling gas and secure efficient operation of a generator. CONSTITUTION: A seal leakage and seal oil contamination detector system of a generator comprises a casing(102), an end housing(120), a purity sensor(140), and a gasket leakage detector(170). The casing surrounds at least a part of a rotor(104) and a stator(106) and seals a large quantity of cooling gas(103) around the rotor and the stator. The end housing is located on each end of the casing and surrounds a shaft seal ring(122). The purity sensor transfers the flow of cooling gas to the casing in order to maintain constant pressure inside the casing and determines the purity of cooling gas in at least one of a cooling gas source(108), the end housing, and the casing. The gasket leakage detector generates an alarm which indicates a leakage in at least one of gaskets by responding to the increase of flow rate and purity of cooling gas in the end housing or/and the casing compared to a flow rate threshold and a purity threshold.
