<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a beam steering system which deflects an incident beam by a large angle, for example, about ±50°. <P>SOLUTION: The beam steering system directs an optical energy beam to a lattice selected from first lattices in one input direction selected from multiple input directions.
