<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce fertilizer including abundant nutrients and a high nutrition value, to reduce costs required for treating a food residue by effectively utilizing the food residue as a raw material of the fertilizer, and to reduce the amount of emission of carbon dioxide generated by treatment of the food residue without any need for using a combustion apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the method of producing fertilizer, underground resources comprising one of fishes, birds, and mammals buried underground for aging, or their mixture are dug out as raw materials of the fertilizer.
