<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inspect a proximity switch safer than ever. <P>SOLUTION: In this method of inspecting an operational state of an electromagnetic induction type proximity switch with a detection object approached, a jamming radio wave is radiated to the electromagnetic induction type proximity switch with the use of a portable transceiver. In order to inspect proximity switches 1e, 2e in their normal operation, the function of the proximity switch 2e to detect a striker 2d is disabled (that is, made into a state that is pseudoly similar to the one in which a follower pulley 2c suspends rotation) by the radiation of the jamming radio wave by the transceiver B, and an operator confirms whether a detection signal of the proximity switch 2e at the time of the disablement changes from a pulse signal to a fixed voltage, thereby inspecting the soundness of the proximity switch 2e.
