<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receptacle from which a foreign matter that has entered an inside can be easily removed. <P>SOLUTION: The optical receptacle 18 is provided with a sleeve 20, a housing 22 and a fiber stub 24. The sleeve 20 is of a cylinder shape and has an opening 20a and an opening 20b. A slit 26 reaching the opening 20b from the opening 20a is formed in the sleeve 20. The sleeve 20 is held by the housing 22. The fiber stub 24 is inserted from the opening 20a halfway into the sleeve 20. An air hole 30 is formed on the side face of the housing 22 to be closer to the opening 20b than the end face of the fiber stub 24.
