Detection of ApoA1 in urine to detect transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder

A method for detecting the presence of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder that includes: (a) Detecting and quantifying the biomarker A-1 (ApoA1) that consists of SEQ ID NO: 41 in a urine sample from an individual; and (b) Comparing the measurement obtained in (a) to the corresponding value in normal urine, wherein variation in the measurement of (a) compared to the normal urine is indicative of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. The method can also determine the stage and severity of the disease.
