<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent temperature rise and generation of hydrogen fluoride in the event of an internal short circuit within a lithium ion battery. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium ion battery is provided with: a cathode; an anode; a separator for electrically insulating the cathode and the anode; a battery container for housing the cathode, the anode and the separator; an organic electrolyte filled in the battery container; and an endothermic agent and a water-absorbing agent. As a result of provision of the endothermic agent and the water-absorbing agent within the lithium ion secondary battery, heat and water can be absorbed in the event of an internal short circuit of the battery and thereby temperature rise and generation of hydrogen fluoride being simultaneously prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
