A container having an upright shaft 6 which proceeds from a position at or adjacent to the base of the container to a position at or adjacent the top of the container. The shaft 6 is located in an inner medial part of the container. The shaft 6 has a plurality of apertures 5 open to a foodstuff when filled into the container such that heat from the foodstuff can vent into the shaft 6 via the apertures 5 and then out of the shaft 6 via an opening in an upper part of the shaft 6. The fill of foodstuff is being or has been cooled by the heat from the foodstuff venting into and then out of the shaft 6.
