<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a liquid repellent layer, on a magnetic head slider surface, having durability against chemical and mechanical loads without exerting influence to a magnetic distance for the purpose of suppressing a picking up of fluorine-based lubricant. <P>SOLUTION: A floating surface of a magnetic head slider 4 is composed of a terminal region 2 and a substrate region 3. The terminal region 2 is composed of an element region 1 provided with a reproducing element 6, a recording element 7, and a heater 8; and a protective member region 9 where alumina is formed so as to surround the element region 1. The liquid repellent layer 12 composed of a nitrogen-containing fluorine compound containing a heterocyclic structure is formed on the region 9 and outflow end-surface 11 of the slider. Thus, an amount of picking up of a fluorine-based lubricant 22 is reduced without exerting influence to the magnetic distance with the magnetic recording medium 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
