PURPOSE: A system and method for controlling appliance using an environment-sensor is provided to enable a home server to operate a home appliance. CONSTITUTION: A home server(100) analyzes sensor value which is transferred from an environment sensor. The home server analyzes the level of air quality. The home server creates a command signal in order to operate or stop a home appliance by the analyzed air quality level. A controller(140) receives the operation or the stop command signal for the home appliance from the home server. The controller operates or stops the home appliance by the received command signal.
